During sport every student is able to experience a wide range of physical activities including team, individual, aquatic and non competitive sports which are not covered in the PD/H/PE curriculum.
Sport and Physical Activity holds a valued place at Mt St Patrick College. Along with weekly sport for students from Years 7 – 11, students are able to follow all the sporting pathways offered by the NSW Combined Catholic College Sport. Mt St Patrick College sporting teams have experienced considerable success. In the past few years (2010 to present) some notable accomplishments by teams and individuals from the College include:
Students selected in NSWCCC and ALL Schools teams in Football, Touch Football, Hockey, Rugby League, Athletics, Swimming, Cross Country
The list could go on!
Sport not only develops skills and interests, students can experience a variety of team games and develop attitudes consistent with being good team members and living a healthy, active life. Sport also plays an important role in developing College spirit.
Mt St Patrick has recently made a commitment to the new sporting organisation Northern Rivers Catholic Colleges (NRCC). 6 Catholic High Schools from the Northern end of our Diocese come together in competition each term to compete in various sports including Netball Rugby League and Union, Touch Football, Aussie rules, Volleyball, Cricket, Basketball and Hockey.
Considerations in reviewing and changing the sports undertaken at Mt. St. Patrick College are made by the Sports Coordinator, in consultation with the Principal, based on levels of interest and participation, cost involved, travel and staff commitment.
